In Germany, lab consumables maker Eppendorf will soon launch Deepwell Plates BioBased for use in high-throughput sample processing.

Made with 95% second-generation feedstock, the plates match the performance of fossil-based versions in chemical stability, temperature tolerance, and centrifugation durability.

The initial release—planned for January 2026—features 96 wells with a 2 mL capacity per well, with additional formats in development.

Eppendorf has previously introduced biobased versions of popular lab consumables such as pipette tips and tubes, offering sustainable alternatives made from renewable materials without compromising performance.
