In Milan, popular athleisure brand Under Armour has partnered with UNLESS, a company known for producing completely renewable garments, to market three completely plant-based sneakers. The launch marks the first time UNLESS footwear will be accessible through Under Armour.
“In an industry where most footwear relies on plastics, petrochemicals, and synthetic dyes that linger in landfills for centuries, these silhouettes offer an alternative future — engineered entirely by nature, completely plastic-free, to decompose and return to the earth at the end of their life,” Under Armour said in a press statement. “Constructed from plant-based materials that offer best-in-class breathability, comfort, and traction, these sneakers prove that style doesn’t have to come at the planet’s expense.”
With “clean” lines and a low-profile design, the three styles have a skater vibe. The shoes include UNLESS York Low, a sleek, sustainable and street-ready style blending minimalist design with eco-conscious innovation ($149); UNLESS Govy Mid, a mid-top sneaker designed for bold moves and conscious steps ($159); and the UNLESS Seaside Slip-on, an “effortlessly cool and endlessly comfortable” slip-on ($119).
The new styles became available on UnderArmour.com on September 25.
In April, Under Armour and UNLESS created 100% plant-based hoodies and shorts.
