In Germany, an EU-funded project aims to create antimicrobial, biobased, and shelf-life-extending packaging for meat.
Dubbed MATE4MEAT, the project is being led by Fraunhofer Institute for Process Engineering and Packaging IVV. The researchers will also evaluate the effectiveness of the various development stages under laboratory conditions and in real-life applications.
The MATE4MEAT project is funded by the European innovation and research program Horizon 2020 from 2024 to 2027 as part of the Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area. The project includes contributions from scientists across Italy, Spain, Turkey, Cyprus and Algeria.
