In France, biobased carboxylic acids firm Afyren reports its first facility has achieved continuous production. The Carling Saint-Avold, France fermentation plant is owned by the Afyren Neoxy joint venture between Afyren and Bpifrance’s SPI Fund. It manufactures several biobased acids for a number of markets, including cosmetics, food, and lubricants.

“The transition to continuous production at AFYREN NEOXY, the first biorefinery using the AFYREN technology, demonstrates our command of all key stages of an innovative process with no equivalents worldwide,” Nicolas Sordet, Afyren CEO, said in a press statement. “Building on this success, we are planning to increase our industrial capacity production gradually in coming quarters, in order to better capitalize on AFYREN NEOXY.”

The facility has to date produced hundreds of tons of product. The acids are currently undergoing qualification prior to delivery, in accordance with customer contracts that represent revenue over €165 million.
