In New York, contemporary artist Daniel Arsham has crafted ceramic poker chips and linen playing cards to explore the game’s “duality,” in that it has deep history and tradition but is continually evolving.

The World Poker Tour will release one hundred collectible sets ahead of its world championship.

“The collaboration was an opportunity to push the boundaries of a traditional poker set,” Arsham told design publication dezeen. “Through materials, texture and form, I wanted each element to evoke a sense of refinement and permanence, a testament to the culture and energy of the poker world.”

The artist, best known for creating sculptures that resemble eroded artifacts from the future, is himself a poker player who participates in WPT charity events.
