In Nebraska, Falls City has earned recognition from the State of Nebraska for bioeconomy development. The city, with a population of 4,045, was honored as part of the Department of Economic Development’s Economic Development Certified Community program. It is Fall City’s fourth such certification since the program’s inception.
The accolade comes shortly after Citroniq Chemicals, LLC chose Falls City as the site for a new biobased ethanol to polypropylene facility.
“We are motivated to create a true bioeconomy ecosystem in Falls City to elevate Nebraska’s economic capabilities by transforming the products, services, technologies, and production our country is demanding for a fully resilient future,” Lucas Froeschl, Executive Director of Falls City Falls City Economic Development and Growth Enterprise, said in a press statement.
The city also recently received an “A” rating as a Bioeconomy Development Opportunity Zone, reflecting its strong feedstock supply and infrastructure access, primarily derived from consistent corn and soybean yields.
