In Germany, Evonik and BASF have announced the first delivery of BASF’s ammonia BMBcert™ grade, marking a pivotal collaboration aimed at reducing the product carbon footprint. The biomass-balanced ammonia boasts a 65% reduction in PCF compared to conventional alternatives. Evonik plans to incorporate the sustainable ammonia into its eCO product range, including VESTAMIN® IPD eCO and VESTAMID® eCO Polyamide 12.

The introduction of ammonia BMBcert into Evonik’s production processes will help the company reach its goal of cutting Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 25% and Scope 3 emissions by approximately 11% by 2030. By 2050, Evonik is targeting climate neutrality.  BASF uses certified biomethane from biowaste and renewable electricity to produce the ammonia.
