Ganni won trendsetter of the year for a jacket made out of a biomaterial produced by Polybion. The Danish fashion brand was also recognized for its work with plant leather innovator, Ohoskin.
MoEa won best vegan shoes for sneakers made from plant leather, while Bananatex was named innovation of the year for its banana-based polyester alternative. Blue District was recognized for its bamboo-based alternative to ostrich feathers.
“Our fashion awards are a celebration of designers and brands making progress for animals — and we hope they inspire other companies to make changes, too,” said PETA’s vice president of corporate projects Yvonne Taylor.
PETA also named Woolmark Villain of the Year for greenwashing and misleading promotion of wool.
