In Sweden, foodtech startup Saveggy has raised €1.76 (US$2.1 million) to scale up an edible cucumber coating made from a proprietary formula of canola and oats. The company’s coating boosts shelf life by preventing dehydration, oxidation, and fungal growth.

“We are very pleased to have gathered a team of impact investors who share our mission to Help the world waste less. We believe that freshness, the health of our planet, and the well-being of people should always remain uncompromised. With this financing round we will launch at industrial scale our first product,” says Saveggy co-founder and CEO Arash Fayyazi.

Unconventional Ventures, LRF Ventures, and Almi Invest GreenTech were among the participants.
