In San Francisco, biobased sneaker pioneer Allbirds has launched its first golf shoe.
The Dasher Golf Shoe retails for $145 and is available in both men’s and women’s sizes on the company’s website. Materials include sugarcane-derived ethylene vinyl acetate, natural rubber, biobased thermoplastic polyurethane, and recycled polyester. The Dasher Golf Shoe features the same design of Allbirds popular Dasher 2 sneaker but repels water should you end up hitting your ball into the marsh.
“A golf shoe has been a top consumer request for a long time,” Tim Brown, who cofounded Allbirds in 2014 with Joey Zillinger, tells CBS Sports. “Consumers told us time and time again that the selection of comfortable, sustainable gold shoes just wasn’t up to par…and when we saw our consumers adding spikes to their Allbirds sneakers, we knew it was time to get Golf Dashers on the green.”
Brown added that golf—a game for “connection, access and upward mobility,” is a perfect fit with Allbirds brand.
