According to UK news publication Express, Messi and Ronaldo have earned over £1 billion over the course of their careers, but Flamini is worth an eye-popping £8.5 billion. Flamini played for the Gunners and Crystal Palace and cofounded GF Biochemicals with Pascale Granata in 2008. He went on to become CEO of the biobased levulinic acid maker in 2019, following his retirement from professional soccer.
“I decided to build a company that would help end chemical pollution,” Flamini tells Express. “Everyone knows about consumer goods we use every day. Shampoo, shower gel, deodorant, detergent to clean the house, paint in our homes and on our things — all of those consumer goods are made of chemical ingredients.”
