In London, vegconomist reports that fashion sustainability pioneer Stella McCartney is set to introduce a luxury bag made from Mylo-brand mushroom leather. First showcased at Paris Fashion Week last October, commercial launch of the Frayme Mylo bag is planned for later this year.  “What you see on the runway today is the conscious fashion industry of tomorrow,” the brand says.

Frayme Mylo is based on Stella McCartney’s iconic Falabella bag silhouette. Mylo is made by Bolt Threads from the root structure of mushrooms.

The launch coincides with a mushroom-inspired Spring/Summer collection replete with earthy tones, pleats and cutouts. “Mushrooms do not get the attention they deserve, largely because many do not understand them or are afraid of them. Our Summer 2022 collection chooses to optimistically celebrate fungi,” according to Stella McCartney’s website.
