In California, Vans has introduced a vegan line of its iconic skate shoe. Dubbed Eco Theory, the sneakers use natural rubber for soles, organic cotton for uppers and laces made from jute. The sneakers are also lined with cork and made with sustainable inks and glue. Vans says it has made sure all materials are ethically sourced.
The iconic brand is offering the new materials in four of its most recognizable designs: Authentic, Slip-Ons, Style 36 Decon, and SK8-Hi 38 high tops
“Sustainability has to be at the forefront of Vans for the future,” says Vans Professional Surfer Dane Gudauskas. “It’s a fantastic moment to own the space and contribute to a more sustainable way of producing.”
