In New Zealand, a fisherman/entrepreneur fresh off inventing a biodegradable beer cup is gearing up to launch his second eco-friendly product: stone-based toilet paper.

Mohi Healey’s tells Stuff  that his TP dissolves in water in just 60 seconds. “I find the ability of the material to simply dissolve away once flushed is awesome too, right now especially we need to be focusing our attention on designing products to disappear, rather than generate waste,” he adds.

Dubbed RockRoll, the TP is made from calcium carbonate, which is already used in municipal wastewater treatment.  “The process used to produce the material is far less burdensome on the planet, no trees are cut down, it uses zero water to manufacture, takes up to 80 percent less energy to produce and has far fewer emissions attached to the production process,” he adds. Healey also claims RockRoll is softer than traditional TP.

RockRoll is Healey’s second turn at inventing. Last year he won a $30,000 to make a prototype of his biodegradable plastic beer cup made from beer brewing waste.  “If you actually dedicate yourself to a great idea, it can turn into reality,” he added.
