In Finland, Metsä Tissue and Amerplast will introduce tissue packaging for Metsä Tissue’s Serla brand that uses biobased polyethylene and Amerplast’s ESSI Kiertokääre product, which is made from recycled plastic from industrial sources and post-consumer recycled plastic packaging collected from Finnish households.

The polyethylene is produced by Braskem in Brazil using biobased ethanol. According to Braskem, each ton of its green polyethylene removes 2.15 metric tons of CO2 from the atmosphere. It is also fully recyclable in existing recycling streams.
