In Kerala, 1,000 Indian citizens celebrating Republic Day simultaneously, and without effort, planted a seed.
Bengaluru’s Seed Paper India produced Indian flags made out of biodegradable paper with embedded seeds for neem, teak wood, marigold, tomato, sunflower and basil.
The flags also used ink made from natural sources: spinach for green; turmeric powder and food grain color for saffron; and for Ashoka Chakra—the 24-spoke wheel depicted in the center of India’s flag—blueberries.
Republic Day, celebrated on January 26, honors the ratification of the Constitution of India.
