In Nebraska, White Dog Labs is planning to build a commercial-scale production facility for its renewable proteins.

White Dog Lab’s ProTyton is a single-cell protein produced via fermentation for aquaculture applications. It can supplement fishmeal, which is lagging demand growth and contributes to overfishing.

“Our focus on aquaculture is that there is very real market demand to bring new protein ingredients to the market now and at sizable quantities in the future if you can prove performance,” Bryan Tracy, White Dog Labs CEO tells Feed Navigator.

The Sutherland plant will be built adjacent to a corn ethanol to give the company feedstock access. A portion of the plant will produce ethanol initially, with a second phase converting that equipment to ProTyton production.
