In California, bioinsecticide maker Marrone Bio Innovations Inc.’s Venerate bioinsecticide has won the Best New Biological Product award by Agribusiness Intelligence.

Venerate is based on bacteria that produce several natural compounds that kill a range of chewing and sucking insects and mites but are harmless to beneficial insects like bees.

It is labeled for use on crops such as grapes, almonds, leafy greens, berries and fruiting vegetables, and as a seed treatment on corn, soy, cotton and wheat.

“Venerate biopesticide joins our Regalia biofungicide, Grandevo bioinsecticide, and Majestene bionematicide as the winner of the prestigious Agrow Award for the Best New Biological Product,” said Pam Marrone, CEO of Marrone Bio Innovations. “It is truly an honor to add yet another award for our innovative portfolio of biological products. This recognition further strengthens our position as a thought leader within the rapidly growing biological crop protection industry. I look forward to providing our shareholders with further updates on our cutting-edge product pipeline as appropriate.”
