In San Diego, Genomatica has partnered with New York’s Bio-Botanica to create a line of botanical extracts using Genomatica’s Brontide butylene glycol.

Brontide is a fermentation-based renewable chemical that can be used be used in skin care applications as a humectant, preservative booster, solubilizer or stabilizer.

“Consumer desire to avoid petroleum-based ingredients is driving increased demand for natural personal care products,” says Damien Perriman, Genomatica’s senior vice president, Specialty Chemicals. “And Genomatica’s Brontide butylene glycol is making it easier for personal care manufacturers to develop products that address healthier lifestyle trends.”

Bio-Botanica says its partnership with Genomatica expands its goal to provide natural alternatives to petroleum-based ingredients. “Bio-Botanica’s 46 years of botanical extract manufacturing experience, combined with Genomatica’s innovative ingredient technology, will enable personal care manufacturers to develop natural products with superior quality,” says Mark Sysler, Bio-Botanica’s senior vice president.

The new line will be launched the upcoming NYSCC Suppliers’ Day 2018.
