#10 Brazil’s Beraca to launch silicone alternative made from tucumã fruit

In Amsterdam, Beraca will launch Tucumã Butter, a 100% natural alternative to silicones in skin care products, at the upcoming in-cosmetics Global. Brazil-based Beraca says the ingredient—made from the tucumã fruit—feels similar to silicones and is is non-hydrogenated and stable. It is also rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids with good spreadability but a non-oily feel. “The Tucumã Butter is in line with Beraca’s vision to develop active ingredients suitable for plant-based formulations and to replace chemical compounds with natural and sustainable solutions,” Juliana Checon, P&D Manager at Beraca, told premiumbeautynews.com. Tucumã Butter is also socially sustainable. Collecting tucumã fruit helps provide added income for over 90 Brazilian families. Beraca also plans to launch a hair-conditioning agent based on natural ingredients at in-cosmetics Global, which will be held April 17-19. The ingredient, Capilus PRO 22, was developed in a partnership with Clariant and is produced from pracaxi oil.
