In Germany, Covestro says it plans to launch a line of polyurethane film formers based on renewable feedstocks at the upcoming in-cosmetics Global conference in Amsterdam. Covestro says the Baycusan eco line has a minimum plant biomass content of 50%, enabling it to receive the ISO 16128-1 designation. The film formers can be used in hair, skin, suncare, and color cosmetics products with the same performance as incumbent materials.
The company will also host a “Sustainability Corner” at in-cosmetics Global to discuss the use of renewable raw materials and product end-of-life. The conference runs April 17–19.
