In India, researchers at the Centre for Nanobiotechnology at VTT University are developing nanometric emulsions to control the mosquito population.

According to Science Trends, researchers formulated a neem urea nanoemulsion using high-energy emulsification (NUNE).  The nanoemulsion was stable for 4 days in external conditions and demonstrated ovicidal and larvicidal properties against C. tritaeniorhynchus and A. aegypti mosquito vectors.

The nanoemulsion was also shown to be safe for beneficial plant bacterium E. ludwigii and O. sativa.

The findings are described in a recent issue of Environmental Science and Pollution Research.
