Frutarom acquires Israel Biotechnology Research for $21 million

In Israel, Frutarom has acquired Israeli Biotechnology Research, a producer of natural active ingredients for cosmetics and dietary supplements, for $21 million.

IBR reported about $7.4 million in sales in 2017 and has grown an average of 20% per year for the past four years. Its products target skin anti-aging, protection from UV rays, and air pollution, skin whitening, and pigmentation prevention. The company was founded in 1995 and has about 30 employees spread across R&D labs and a production plant in Yavne.

The global active ingredients market for cosmetics was valued at around $2.63 billion in 2015 and is projected to reach $4.45 billion by 2026.

“We continue to expand our portfolio of unique and natural products, already constituting 75% of our sale volume,” says Ori Yehudai, president and CEO of Frutarom Group.
