In the United Kingdom, princess-to-be Meghan Markle has endorsed vegan leather trousers—a move that will likely drive interest for the material if prior public clamor for royal family fashion is any indication.
Markle, an actress on the popular show Suits, told Good Housekeeping in June that she “love[s] cropped pants in vegan leather, a great fitted blazer and a button-down [shirt].” Business Insider later reported that searches for “vegan leather trousers” jumped 67% in the wake of the interview.
Markle has been in the public eye since her relationship with Prince Harry became known to the tabloids. But she became a household name late last year when their engagement was announced. The Prince reportedly skipped his usual Boxing Day hunt because of his betrothed’s love of animals.
