In Dallas, Lore Technology has introduced beverage cups made from corn protein that take mere hours to dissolve in hot water. The cups use Zein, a corn-derived protein manufactured by Flo Chemical Corp’s FloZein Products.
Lore says Zein has been approved by FDA as safe for human and animal consumption for 65 years and has been produced by FloZein for over 35 years for use in edible coatings and encapsulation products. Lore says it is looking to license the cup for “further development and commercialization.”
