In Sweden, outdoor apparel brand Tierra has launched a jacket made 100% from biobased materials. Dubbed Deterra, the jacket’s exterior fabric is made of Fulgar’s Eco material, a castor oil-derived polyamide. The padding is made of wool from German sheep and Tencel yarn from wood cellulose. The buttons were made using the corozo nut from the Tagua palm.
The jacket launches later this month in German and Swedish stores and will be available online to the rest of Europe.
The eco-friendly coat has won the ISPO prize for Eco Achievement Apparel 2017/2018 and the Sustainable Innovation in the Outdoors Industry Prize 2017.
