In Australia, a new bio-based solid surface is being sold in Australia for buildings and homeowners to install as environmentally friendly counters and sinks. While faucet and water conservation are usually the environmental focus for sinks, this new surface offers consumers a way to make the actual sink more eco-friendly. Tawaho Management Services Limited announced the new organic solid surfaces, called Centrifucast, that are made from renewable agricultural resources, though they did not specifically list their materials.

The surfaces can also be sold with an antimicrobial technology from BioMaster which incorporates silver ions to the Centrifucast surface to prevent bacteria from growing. The solid surfaces are currently manufactured in the USA by New Composite Partners which is located in Wisconsin and focuses on more sustainable, renewable, biobased and recycled feedstock for their products.
