In Illinois and California, Ingredion Incorporated and SweeGen Inc. continue to make sweet deals for each other with their latest addition and commercialization of a new stevia leaf sweetener. The sweetener, called BESTEVIA Reb D, is a replacement for sugar in foods and beverages and is made from the steviol glycosides found in the stevia leaf.
As reported in NUU in December 2016, Ingredion is a distribution partner with SweeGen and as reported in February, Ingredion received a new CFO to replace retiring CFO Jack Fortnum.
Ingredion converts grains, fruits and other plant materials into biomaterial ingredients for food, beverages, paper, personal care products and other items in a variety of industries and helps their customers replace synthetic ingredients with naturally-derived biomaterial ingredients.
Steven Chen, SweeGen CEO told PR Newswire, “Our growing sweetener platform offers our industry partners an expanding choice to replace caloric and artificial sweeteners in consumer products. The introduction of BESTEVIA Reb D represents yet another strong achievement for SweeGen in the natural sweetener market.”
