In Morocco, the country received its first shipment of biofungicide from Marrone Bio Innovations (MBI). MBI provides pest management and plant health products for the agriculture, turf, ornamental and water treatment markets. MBI CEO Pam Marrone says that the shipment marks a “significant milestone” for the company, as biologically-based integrated pest management (IPM) is becoming a necessity for agricultural exporters in Morocco to gain access to regions with strict pesticide residue restrictions, like the U.S. and Europe.

The fungicide will be used by country’s growers of tomatoes, grapes and cucurbits. Tomatoes are the largest vegetable grown in Morocco and a crop for which the biofungicide has demonstrated efficacy against a broad range of diseases.
