In Maryland, biopesticide maker LAM International has been acquired by Certis USA. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Certis CEO Jow-Lih Su said LAM’s Butte facility will remain open and there will be no staffing changes tied to the deal. Previously called Mycotech, LAM employs about 10 to 12 full-time employees, Su tells the Montana Standard. “We liked [LAM’s] technology,” Su said. The company’s solid products also complement Certis’ liquid products. “[H]aving both solid and liquid fermentation technology platforms allows us to commercialize more new and innovative biological pest control products worldwide,” Su adds.
Founded in the 1990s on fungi-based pesticide technology, Mycotech merged with Auxein Corp. in 2001 to form Emerald BioAgriculture Corp. Three years later, Emerald sold Mycotech to Laverlam International Corp., which eventually became LAM International.
