In Switzerland, World Wildlife Fund launched a global platform to encourage efficient materials management, called Cascading Materials Vision. The platform includes associations from around the world as well as big name consumer companies like The Coca-Cola Company, DuPont, Keurig Green Mountain, Inc., McCormick, McDonald’s, Nestlé, and Target, who have all agreed to follow guiding principles and help make it easier to source secondary materials.
WWF’s goal through this new platform is to collaborate globally to reduce waste, encourage the reuse of materials, and address issues that prevent the creation, trade and use of secondary materials.
Erin Simon, Deputy Director of Packaging and Material Science at WWF told Sustainable Brands, “With some of the world’s largest and leading companies already committed to the Cascading Materials Vision, we’re confident that this platform will create the catalyst needed to jumpstart the secondary materials market, protect our natural resources and meet the production demands of our growing population.”
