In New York, a beauty product range run by actress-turned-lifestyle-guru Gwyneth Paltrow has been found to contain synthetic chemicals despite its all-natural brand positioning.

A Daily Mail investigation found retinyl palmitate—a chemical implicated in fetal development problems—in the line’s Replenishing Night cream. Petrochemical-based diheptyl succinate and panthenyl triacetate were also found in Paltrow’s products.

The products are touted on Goop, Paltrow’s popular lifestyle website. Goop told the Daily Mail that its “philosophy is to ensure that ingredients linked to health harm are not found in our products. This is not an exact science, as there are many sources for information about ingredient toxicity, and the data changes every day.”
