In Illinois, Elevance Renewable Sciences announced that Karl Schoene will replace Tony Parnell as CEO, effective immediately. Schoene has been president and CTO of Elevance since August 2016, and previously served as president and CEO of Accutest Laboraties and CEO of EnEnTec. He has also held positions at AkzoNobel and Albemarle.
Parnell will become executive chairman of the Elevance’s board of directors. The move is in line with a management succession and transition plan the board established in 2016.
“Karl is the right person to take Elevance to even greater success,” Parnell says. “He’s a proven leader with a history of producing strong results and developing effective teams along the way. As a former CEO for two other high-growth companies and with more than 25 years in the specialty chemical industry and related fields, he’s the right CEO for Elevance at this time in our development.”
Schoene will initially focus on the launch of new products. Elevance operates a 180,000 metric ton per year joint venture plant with Wilmar International Limited at Gresik, Indonesia. The facility uses Elevance’s metathesis technology to produce specialty chemicals for detergents, coatings, personal care, oil field, agricultural chemicals, and engineered polymers.
