In California, Yelp partnered with Marble, a San Francisco robotics company, to test robot delivery for Yelp Eat24 diners in the Mission and Potrero Hill neighborhoods in San Francisco. If you place an order through Yelp Eat24 from restaurants including DOSA on Valencia, Truly Mediterranean, Aslam’s Rasoi, or Alhamra, your delivery might be coming by robot.

When an order is placed with one of these participating restaurants, diners receive a text message asking if they are willing to accept robot delivery. If they say yes, a robot will pick up the order from the restaurant and the diner will receive a text message with a code to unlock the cargo bin when the robot arrives.

Yelp intends to learn about how humans and robots interact – from both restaurant employees and diners – during this limited rollout. The vision is for robots to work side-by-side with humans as another food delivery option.
