In Minnesota, biomedical companies PetVivo Holdings Inc. and Gel-Del Technologies Inc. have merged in a reverse triangular merger, meaning PetVivo created a subsidiary to buy out Gel-Del. PetVivo focuses on veterinary medical devices and partnered back in 2014 with Gel-Del to create a biomedical device similar to cartilage for dogs and horses who have osteoarthritis, which affects around 20 million dogs in Europe and the U.S. alone. Gel-Del focuses on thermoplastic biomaterials similar to human tissue and through their initial 2014 partnership, the two companies decided to merge. The merger is expected to close in April. PetVivo said it has potential human applications coming soon, so stay tuned.
