In Massachusetts, Brooks Automation, Inc. announced it has acquired Cool Lab, LLC in exchange for a $5 million cash payment and a $9 million value non-cash consideration. Cool Lab, which made $5 million in sales over the last year, is a subsidiary of BioCision LLC. Cool Lab focuses on high tech storage and transportation solutions for cryogenics, biological samples and biomaterials, while BioCision focuses on standardized biomaterial sample handling. Brooks Automation, which began with automation and cryogenic products for the semiconductor industry and expanded into life sciences over the years, had been in partnership with BioCision since 2014 through an equity interest. Brooks Automation and BioCision have collaborated on several products over the years, some of which had been transferred into Cool Lab.
