In Switzerland, Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials global members voted and approved revised Principles and Criteria at its Annual Assembly of Delegates meeting in Hanoi, Vietnam. RSB is based on 12 principles and criteria that address key sustainability issues, but has undergone revisions to be more streamlined and make it easier for companies who want to get certified to follow the requirements for the biomaterials sustainability certification. Some of the changes include clearer impact assessment requirements, integration of the greenhouse gas calculation requirement with other tools, a new integrated pest management requirement, a new way to measure forestry operations’ GHG emissions, and a new grievance mechanism for workers and local communities.
