In California, Amyris says its Biossance consumer beauty brand soon be available at Sephora stores and Sephora online. The February 2017 launch will be coupled with comarketing efforts with Sephora, both in-store and online.
With 2,300 stores in 33 countries, including over 500 in North America, the agreement with Sephora will significantly expand the reach of the Biossance brand. “We expect this partnership combined with our strong growth will more than double our revenue in 2017,” said Caroline Hadfield, Senior Vice President, Personal Care, at Amyris.
The Biossance skin care and beauty collection uses squalene produced from sugarcane via Amyris technology at the company’s Brotas, Brazil manufacturing facility. The brand has also “blacklisted” over 2,000 ingredients deemed potentially harmful to either humans or the planet. The company says there is growing consumer demand for sustainable skin care products.
