NorSAF to use Nova Pangaea’s proprietary REFNOVA tech for Latvian SAF
In Latvia, NorSAF is progressing development of an advanced ethanol production plant in Latvia, to supply NorSAF’s planned Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) facility. The plant will use the widely available, locally sourced wood residues to make ethanol using Nova Pangaea’s proprietary REFNOVA® technology.
The MOU was signed at the Latvia EU Representative Office in Brussels as part of a SAF Roundtable event with attendees from the EU Commission and stakeholders from the entire value chain. Advanced SAF from biomass can play a key role in scaling up SAF supply to meet mandate targets, using feedstock available in Europe; EU policy should reward SAF which delivers superior greenhouse gas emission reductions, and support is needed to enabling long term offtake agreements for these first of a kind commercial scale projects.
