August 6, 2026 |

In Denmark, the Nordic Investment Bank has signed a 13-year DKK 182 million (approximately EUR 24 million) loan with Sindal Biogas A/S. The investment will co-finance the expansion of the Sindal Biogas plant in Sindal in northern Denmark, doubling biomethane output from 22 to 44 million Nm³ per year and enabling the potential addition of CO₂ capture and liquefaction.

The loan supports Denmark’s transition to clean energy and is eligible under the InvestEU Clean Energy Transition Framework.

The loan will support Sindal Biogas A/S in doubling its renewable natural gas production capacity. The project also includes the potential installation of CO₂ capture technology capable of permanently storing biogenic emissions or supplying Power-to-X projects. The expanded plant will process up to 800,000 tons of agricultural and industrial waste annually, making it one of Denmark’s largest biogas facilities.
