Ningbo breaks biofuel bunkering record
In China, a Singapore-flagged Maersk container ship received 5,700 tons of B24 biofuel at Ningbo-Zhoushan’s Beilun port on July 17, setting a national record for the largest single transfer of bonded biofuel.
Ningbo Maritime Safety Administration coordinated the operation with what it described as a “land-sea-air-space” oversight system. CCTV, patrol vessels, and drones tracked the transfer from a Ningbo-registered bunkering ship, while inspectors boarded the vessel to verify fuel quality, anti-pollution safeguards, and emergency readiness.
This was the ninth biofuel bunkering carried out in Ningbo this year, bringing total volume so far to over 28,000 tons.
