New Zealand government funds feasibility study for potential wood-based bioenergy project
In New Zealand, the New Zealand Herald newspaper reports that the forestry minister says there are discussions between the government and Oji Fibre Solutions regarding the potential development of a biofuels and hydrogen plant at Tokoroa’s Kinleith Mill. The government has agreed to fund a multi-million dollar feasibility study to determine if the project has legs. Currently 80% of the mill’s energy needs come from co-generation. The facility is centrally located for logistics and access to other nearby mills, making it a potentially key opportunity for the region’s bioeconomy.
