Murueta Shipyards launches latest diesel-electric hybrid chemical tanker

In Spain, Murueta Shipyards launched the Bahía Beatriz, a diesel-electric hybrid chemical tanker, prepared for the transport and supply of new fuels such as methanol, ethanol and other biofuels. Chartered by Repsol, it is the third vessel of its kind in Mureloil’s fleet and the seventh of the supply vessels to be operated by the shipping company. In addition, it has been approved with the class notation “bunker methanol”, being the first of its kind in Spain.
Key features include:

·      12 tanks with an approximate capacity of 8,000 m³ plus two extras
Prepared for the supply of methanol, ethanol and biofuels

·      Diesel-electric drive

·      Battery energy storage system

·      Ability to perform bunkering operations in 100% electric mode

The conception and design of the vessel have been developed by MURELOIL SA, bringing its extensive experience in the field of bunkering, together with the technical office of MURUETA Shipyards. This is the shipyard’s 336th construction.
