Middle East conflict pushing Australia to reconsider ethanol blending

In Australia, the Guardian newspaper reports that ministers and the fuel standards body are looking into how ethanol blending could be increased to help offset rising fossil fuel costs due to the US and Israel’s attack on Iran. The government is particularly concerned about inflation that will result from the rising fuel prices and will in turn increase the cost of food production. Currently on New South Wales and Queensland, two key sugarcane producing regions, have E10 blending mandates but it could go national, or even higher to. E15 or E20 depending on how conversations amongst ministers ends up.
