Mexico advances national biogas and biomethane agenda
In Mexico, the Mexican Petroleum Institute and the National Biogas Council concluded the VI National Technical Forum on Biogas, bringing together government, industry, academia, and researchers to advance a national strategy for biogas and biomethane. Discussions focused on regulation, technology, financing, waste-to-energy projects, biomethane pipeline injection, and sustainable aviation fuel development. Officials highlighted the opportunities created by the 2025 Biofuels Law, Mexico’s abundant organic waste resources, and the need for stronger regulatory frameworks and interagency collaboration to accelerate commercial deployment and support the country’s energy transition.
