Marine biodiesel prices plunge amid stronger demand
In the Netherlands, the Financial Times reports marine biodiesel prices in Rotterdam have fallen sharply as suppliers seek to meet European emissions-reduction requirements. The price reportedly reached a record low of about $985 per metric ton, down from roughly $1,388 in July, before recovering to around $1,240. At the same time, marine gasoil climbed to about $1,528.50/t amid Middle East supply disruptions. Including EU ETS and FuelEU Maritime compliance costs, biodiesel has become cheaper than many conventional marine fuels. Rotterdam sales of marine biodiesel blends more than doubled in Q2 2026, although biofuels still represent only about 0.6% of global marine-fuel consumption.
