Malaysia’s B15 biodiesel rollout to tighten palm oil supplies

July 8, 2026 |

In Malaysia, Platts reports Malaysia’s palm oil market is expected to tighten during the 2026-27 marketing year as El Niño-related dry weather reduces production while the country’s B15 biodiesel mandate boosts domestic demand, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Palm oil production is forecast to decline to 19.7 million metric tons, while domestic consumption is expected to rise to 4.59 million metric tons as higher biodiesel blending increases feedstock use. Although ending stocks are projected to fall to 2.56 million metric tons, the USDA expects supplies to remain sufficient to meet both domestic demand and export commitments.
