Malaysia says higher biodiesel blends will reduce diesel use
In Malaysia, the Malaysian Reserve newspaper says the government estimates that increasing biodiesel blends from B10 to B12 or B15 in Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah will reduce annual diesel consumption by about 334,139 metric tons, equivalent to nearly 386.7 million liters. The Ministry of Plantation and Commodities said the higher blends would extend the country’s diesel supply by up to 20 days while reducing reliance on fossil fuels. Officials said the National Biodiesel Programme, introduced under the 2006 National Biofuel Policy, remains a key strategy for strengthening energy security while supporting the domestic palm oil industry through greater use of palm methyl ester biodiesel.
