Malaysia looking to China as biodiesel import destination
In Malaysia, the plantations ministry is encouraging biodiesel producers to tie up with palm oil importers in China’s Tianjin region in an attempt to help the country reach its 15% renewable transport fuel goals by 2020 and a potential biodiesel policy by that date. The region is already the third-largest entry point for palm oil and could be a good gateway for biodiesel use, along with Beijing. Last year, China’s imports of palm oil products rose nearly 70%.
