LanzaTech selects Humberside for major SAF facility
In India, BioEnergy Times reported that LanzaTech Global has selected Saltend Chemicals Park in Humberside as the preferred location for its DRAGON II project, a $ 689 million investment aimed at large-scale production of sustainable aviation fuel and renewable diesel.
The facility is expected to produce about 80,000 tons of SAF each year along with 8,000 tonns of renewable diesel once it becomes operational. The project is projected to create nearly 300 skilled jobs during the construction phase and around 150 permanent positions after operations begin, according to the report.
Saltend Chemicals Park, owned by px Group and part of Ara Partners’ industrial decarbonisation portfolio, was chosen after an extensive review of sites across the UK. The location offers established infrastructure, utilities, access to a deep-water jetty, and fully managed site services.
DRAGON II is part of LanzaTech’s broader Project DRAGON program, which also includes the DRAGON I facility in Port Talbot, South Wales. Both projects will use the LanzaJet Alcohol-to-Jet technology.
